Create was founded by Emma and Miranda and we first opened our doors in September 2005. Initially our shop offered pottery painting and craft activities alongside a café.

However during the first couple of months of being open we had quite a few people coming in asking for wool. Our premises in the past had been a wool shop amongst other things. Since we are both keen knitters and there was clearly demand we decided it would be a great idea to bring yarn into Create and back to Ilkley. This has been a huge success with the area devoted to wool growing and growing. As word has spread, clients have come from near and far. However for some of you, we realise that we are perhaps just a little too far away and so have launched Create with Wool, so you too can enjoy the fabulous and ever growing stock. We hope through this site you get the same feeling of excitement and delight that as avid knitters we do when we walk into Create. We are surrounded by the glorious colours and textures of the yarns and wools and we wanted to try and reflect this here.

Our love of wool has led us to join forces with a local hand dyer (and knitting fanatic!) Sherry to launch our own brand of wool created here in Yorkshire. Aptly called Ba T'at yarns after the famous song about Ilkley Moor that overlooks our lovely shop. Please take a look at it in our online shop.
